Mid-Michigan Women’s Expo Celebrates 10 Years in Lansing
Show Slated for Feb. 5-7 Will Focus on Fashion, Food and Fun
Lansing, Michigan, January 13, 2010 – Mid-Michigan Women’s Expo will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Lansing Feb. 5-7 with a show focused on fashion, food and fun.
The 2010 Expo, the largest single consumer event for women in the region, features products and services from more than 275 women-owned and women-focused businesses, as well as presentations by local experts and a national celebrity on topics ranging from fashion and food to financial planning and family.
The show will again be held at the downtown Lansing Center and showcase a mix of old favorites and new offerings, including shopping opportunities, beauty and home makeovers, health screenings, get-away destinations and more.
Highlights of this year’s lineup of exhibits include:
- Sparrow Village, the popular 26-booth display sponsored by Sparrow, will bring an extensive team of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to provide on-site health screenings and assessments, to answer health and fitness questions and to provide referral information.
- Nintendo® Interactive WII Fit-Plus System, which will feature eight screens to allow women to experience a hands-on workout that will fit with their time and schedules.
- Television celebrity Andy Paige will bring her fashionable “Beauty Boot Camp” to the Lansing Center stage each of Expo’s three days. The internationally known make-up artist, who also was part of the “glam squad” on TLC’s Ten Years Younger, teaches the principles of proper fit, beautiful make-up, great hair and personalized flair – even for those on a tight budget.
- New this year, Meijer Inc. will host the Cooking Stage, featuring healthy, fast, fresh recipes for families looking to inject a little variety into their diet while watching their waistlines and budgets.
- J Schwanke, host of the web broadcast show, JTV!, will create simple yet beautiful flower arrangements with a unique Valentine twist on the Main Stage both Friday and Saturday during his “Love in Bloom” demonstration.
- Wine tastings sponsored by Wines for Humanity, which will allow women to learn how to taste wine properly and what foods to pair with what wines.
- Reshape your body and look 10 pounds slimmer with incredible new garments from several presenters
- Discovering the joys of chocolate by becoming a Dove chocolatier
“We are so pleased to be celebrating our 10th anniversary with the Lansing community,” said Denise Kolesar, president of Kohler Expos, which promotes the event each year. “Each year, we work to present a show that is bigger and better than the preceding year, and we think we have outdone ourselves for this important milestone.
“Our focus this year is on fashion, and we want women to Fashion their Seat Belts and come in to discover how fashionable it is to be healthy and to look your best. As always, Expo will feature an engaging balance of products, activities, services and learning forums that educate and entertain.”
Main sponsor for this year’s Expo is Sparrow. WLNS NewsCenter 6, WFMK 99.1, NOW 97.5 and The Lansing State Journal are media sponsors of the event. The Capital Area District Library is host of the seminar stage.
The Expo is slated to run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 7. Advance tickets are $6.00 each and are available at all area Meijer stores. Admission at the door is $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for children ages 6-14. Children 5 and under are admitted free.
As in previous years, the Expo’s Main Stage will feature live presentation on a variety of topics throughout the weekend. Hosted by CADL, the Main Stage will focus on health issues, home design, beauty, fashion and car care for women.
The Cooking Stage will be hosted by Meijer and feature easy, affordable and healthy recipes, along with simple solutions for a healthy life.
Another popular draw for the event, Sparrow will offer health screenings, such as cholesterol screening, blood pressure checks, body fat analysis, bone density scans, heart-attack risk assessment and others, over the course of the weekend in its unique Sparrow Village exhibit.
Other highlights of this year’s Expo include:
