8th Annual Mid-Michigan Women’s Expo Slated for Feb. 1-3
Lansing, Michigan, DATE – Mid-Michigan Women’s Expo, the largest single consumer event in the region for women, will be held Feb. 1-3 in Lansing.
The 8th annual event will feature products and services from more than 275 women-owned and women-focused businesses. The 2008 Expo, returns to the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing. Attendees shop, sample new products, visit with physicians and other professionals, attend cooking demonstrations and listen to national experts discuss a wide range of topics.
Highlights of this year’s lineup of exhibits and seminars include:
- Sparrow City, a 26-booth display sponsored by Sparrow Health System, will bring an extensive team of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to provide on-site health screenings and assessments, to answer health and fitness questions and to provide referral information.
- L&L Food Centers, Lansing’s only locally owned and operated food chain, will showcase new products, food samples and coupons in its 40-booth display.
- “Secrets of an eBay Millionaire” by Dave Novak, founder and president of Novak and Company, which generated $2.5 million in sales over the past two years on eBay. His presentation on Friday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m.
- Design trends and decorating tips from Chayse Dacoda, who went from the Emmy-nominated show While You Were Out to starring on the current HGTV show Get It Together. Dacoda, who also works with private clients across the country, will speak on Expo’s Main Stage on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.
- Financial coach Glinda Bridgforth from The Oprah Winfrey Show’s popular “America’s Debt Diet” series. She will discuss the practical steps of financial management as well as explore barriers to financial health on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. on the Expo Main Stage.
- Nice Selection of Automobiles for women of today!

“Mid-Michigan Women’s Expo remains the most popular consumer event for women in the Lansing area. Where else can you sample new food products, talk one-on-one with a doctor, get a massage, treat yourself to a new hair style, learn more about dozens of topics – all under a single roof for a modest ticket price.”
Main sponsors for this year’s Expo are L&L Food Centers and Sparrow Health System. WLNS NewsCenter 6, WFMK Radio 99.1 and The Lansing State Journal are media sponsors of the event. The Capitol Area District Library and NuUnion Credit Union are sponsors of the seminar stage.
The Expo is slated to run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 3. Advance tickets are $5 each and are available at all area L&L Food Stores. Admission at the door is $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-14. Children 5 and under are admitted free.
Central to Expo again this year is the Main Stage, which will feature live presentations on a variety of topics throughout the weekend. Hosted by CADL and sponsored by NuUnion Credit Union, the Main Stage will focus on health issues, interior decorating and fitness.
Women can also pick up recipes and sample new products that will hit grocery store shelves in 2008 at the L&L Food Pavilion, one of the most popular exhibits at Expo each year. More than 30 companies will offer food samples, coupons and nutrition information throughout the weekend at the Pavilion, which will feature a “green revolution” focused on the theme, “Eat healthy, eat happy, eat smart.”
As another popular draw for the event, Sparrow Health System will offer health screenings, such as cholesterol screening, blood pressure checks, body fat analysis, bone density scans, heart-attack risk assessment and others, throughout the weekend in its unique Sparrow City exhibit.
Exhibit highlights include:
- On-site day spa services, including manicures, eyebrow waxing, facials, massages and haircuts
- A wide variety of fashion, jewelry and home items for sale, including soaps and spa products, clothing, cosmetics, educational books and toys, cookware, home décor and many other items
- New and unique products, including tubular skylights by Sun Travel, hand-painted and hand-etched glassware, beaded purses and polka dot bags and the popular micro-fiber steam mop system
- Home improvement packages, contractors and related services to jumpstart a winter makeover, home addition or repair project
- Multiple vacation destinations and trip planners from throughout Michigan and around the country
- A lounge sponsored by The Lansing State Journal, where women can rest, rejuvenate and rediscover their community newspaper
- Book signings by several Michigan authors
- Education opportunities through financial literacy programs, credit union, financial and estate planner, university and related providers
